Twelve hours of moving through some of the most dramatic landscape in Europe. Buy snacks the night before, onboard food is basic and overpriced.

4.6 ★ Google · 1,048 reviews Authentic Neapolitan Torget 13 · Harbour 3 min walk from hotel Walk-in OK Mondays 12:00–23:00 daily

Porto13 sits right on Bergen’s harbour square, arguably the best location in the city for an evening meal. The chef is Italian, the pizza oven came from Italy, and the flour is imported. Margherita and marinara are the benchmarks; the salmon pizza is a Bergen-favourite twist on a classic. Homemade pasta dishes round out the menu, carbonara, amatriciana, pesto, seafood, all done properly.

Walk-in on a Monday is straightforward, arrive by 18:30 to get a good table. If they’re unexpectedly full, Olivia Zachariasbryggen at the fish market is a solid backup.

What to order

The margherita or marinara are the classics to judge any Neapolitan pizzeria by, both excellent here. The salmon pizza is a Bergen signature worth trying. For pasta, the seafood and carbonara are consistently strong. Kids are well catered for, simple margherita hits the spot. Good Italian wine list and Norwegian craft beer.

Logistics

What to actually know

All logistics handled by the tour ticket. Your job is to be on the right platform at the right time, fed, and warm.

What to wear

  • Layers, cold on the open boat deck, warm in the trains
  • Waterproof jacket, non-negotiable for the cruise
  • Comfortable shoes for walking around stops
  • Sunglasses for the fjord (water glare is intense)
  • Beanie + scarf if you feel the cold

What to bring

  • Snacks, packed from Rema 1000 / Kiwi the night before
  • Water bottle, refill anywhere
  • Phone fully charged for photos
  • Motion sickness tablets if anyone's prone (the bus winds)
  • Paper or app copy of tickets, show on each leg

Connection tips

  • Connections are timed but tight, don't wander far at stops
  • Flåm 35-minute connection is the tightest
  • Sit right side going up Flåmsbana for waterfalls
  • Kjosfossen photo stop is built into the schedule
  • Toilet on every train and boat
